Just finished this piece after a visit to the Rochester area of Vermont. I wanted to capture the extraordinary contrast between the changing leaves and turbulent skies. The winters can be brutal there, but their falls are spectacular.

Including this new painting, "Saw Mill Hill Road, Vermont Autumn" (12"X12") which is also available for sale.
I sat above the ocean for about three hours, after having hiked from the last road towards the tip of Tomales Trail. While sitting here painting, a coyote slid by, his eye on me the entire time. I could hear the waves lapping against the shore as the tide came in. The pattern of the cliffs was of particular interest and beauty. This painting is for sale. it is about 11X7", unframed and is a watercolor.
This was my first trip to the astounding Point Reyes National Seashore preserve, about 1.5 hours north of San Francisco. I hiked all over the area, and painted this sitting on a hill looking towards the cliffs, watching as the midday tide began to waft in. The gulls and seals were talking to me for the several hours while I painted.
This original, plein air watercolor is for sale. It is on heavyweight Arches Hot Press paper, and is about 13"X 9" and is unframed.
Have you ever noticed that just before a monstrous storm breaks, colors brighten and shimmer? Electric emotions, too. 12x12” work in progress, gold & silver infused.
This painting was sold as a print here:
Catherine Twomey, "Blue Ridge Blue Sheep Cloud" 30.000" x 21.375", print
Painted live along Skyline Drive in the Piedmont Area of Virginia, in Shenandoah National Park. Made me feel like an angel as the warm summer breezes overcame my easel and me. I loved the patterns; the repetition of shapes and most of all, the color of these mountains. See the sheep cloud to the upper right? My eye finally found him after I thought I was done, but he's welcome to stay.
Thank you very much to the collector!
"Liquid Blue Ridge Sunset" oil on board
Robinson Preserve, near Sarasota, Sunday, January 7, about 2:00 pm.
Having a wonderful time getting back to some value work. This preserve was stunning; took a walk for about an hour and saw herons, egrets and mangroves. Faber Castell pastel pencils on a grey paper sketchbook.

What a day for a daydream. Boat on dock; it's there every day.
Background:
Art is my life. From the first art project I can remember (making a Christmas Nativity scene in grade school that overshadowed the resident artist) art has always been what brings me the greatest satisfaction. Without art, I am not who I am.
I am now working full time as a fine artist, a dream that I've pursued for as long as I remember. Landscapes engage and challenge me, and I have a very soft spot for animals.
My artwork has been featured at the world renowned TED (Technology, Education and Design) conference (TED MED in San Diego, on huge high definition screens throughout the exhibition center). I recently won the nationally acclaimed ArtInPlace competition in Virginia which placed a 12' X 24' mural on aluminum of my work, now seen by thousands of commuters daily.
Two museums currently house my art: The William H. Benton Museum in Connecticut, and The LLoyd Museum in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was a great honor to be asked to exhibit and I continue to add to their collections. Speaking of collections, my work is a part of hundreds of private collections worldwide.
As a passionate defender of Artist's Rights, I have traveled to Washington, DC to meet with Senators and members of Congress as they debated the Orphan Works law (an attempt to "orphan" copyrighted artwork by separating the creator from their work) which we defeated. In addition, as a member of the American Society of Illustrator's Partnership, I continue to work to secure reprographic royalty streams from the ongoing publication of artist's works.
This original oil, 16"H X 8"W is up for sale. It was painted "En plein air" (outside in one sitting) and is on an archival linen board.

In the summer, the oaks look bigger then ever, and this one is just plain massive. It has the most interesting branches and patina.
