Killian’s Red was my first horse, and what a thoroughbred he was. I painted this portrait in 2007 to capture his vitality and sassiness. He was as green as I was, but we trained each other over the next 18 years. Flaxen mane and tail against a gleaming chestnut coat, he is greatly missed on this anniversary day.
