Artist Statement • Catherine Twomey
I have spent my work life creating art specifically for the medical world. My expertise has included translating complex medical information into accurate, straightforward visuals for healthcare, with clientele as varied as physicians to schoolchildren.
It is time for a change. My interests have evolved from my ability to consolidate and translate the most complex, stimulating visuals into personal artistic jewels. The Blue Ridge Mountains, Charlottesville area and environs are my stimuli. My conceptualizations are founded in a love for the flow of the earth; a desire to convey the direct simplicity of the land. Colors complement the seasons and are melded to reverberate off of each other.
I am most interested in exploring complexity as a jumping off point for the ultimate in simplicity. My goal is to create works that are “jewels” full of color, light, design and emotion.
